Difference Between Open Loop and Closed Loop Control System

What is the Difference Between the performance of Open Loop and Closed Loop Control System

The element of the open-loop control system(OLCS) can usually be divided into two parts controller and controller processes.

A system with one or more feedback paths such that just described is called a closed-loop control system(CLCS)

Feedback also has effects on such system performance characteristics as Stability, bandwidth, overall gain, impedance, and sensitivity.

Open Loop Control System (OLCS)

#01. In the open-loop control System(OLCS) the behavior of the system does not change if the control variables change from the setpoint due to any disturbances. Hence OLCS is not accurate.

#02. In OLCS feedback signal is not employed by the sensor and controller.

#03. The time constant of the open-loop control system is largely due to which the transient state large time to die out. Hence OLCS is slower.

#04. OLCS is generally stable but Cannot is stabilized if it becomes Unstable.

#05. OLCS are more affected due to external disturbance and internal parameter variation. i.e. OLCS are more sensitive.

#06. OLCS are simple and Economical.

#07. OLCS is also called a Non-feedback control system and the Man-Machine control system.

Closed-Loop Control System (CLCS)

#01. Closed-Loop Control System(CLCS) the behavior of System changes if the control variable changes from the set of a point due to any disturbance. Hence CLCS is accurate.

#02. In the CLCS feedback signal is always employed either positively and negatively, Either manually and automatically between sensor and controller.

#03. The time constant of CLCS with negative feedback is smaller due to which the transient stateless time to die out hence CLCS with Negative feedback is faster.

#04. In spite of having negative feedback, CLCS can still become unstable due to [high open-loop gain, high type number, huge Transportation delay or phase lag, high sensitivity] but can be stabilized.

#05. CLCS with Negative feedback (-Ve) are less affected due to external disturbance and internal parameter variation i.e. CLCS with Negative feedback are less sensitive.

#06. CLCS is complex and expensive.

#07. CLCS is also called a feedback control system and Automatic control system.

NOTE- Negative Feedback doesn't grantee stability but it granted more stable than positive feedback.

Conclusion of Open Loop and Closed Loop System-  What is the difference between open-loop and closed-loop control systems. and the difference between open-loop and closed-loop congestion control and why we use a negative feedback system, why we prefer a negative feedback system over a positive feedback control system.
